About the Winery:
Bodegas Muga is Rioja Alta’s premier producer and the Muga family are unanimously considered to be one of Spain’s most important winemaking families. The winery has practically legendary status due to its philosophy revolving around adherence to tradition, dynamism, and winemaking of the highest quality. Viura, Garnacha blanca and Malvasía de Rioja.

GEOLOGY AND SOIL

Mainly clay-calcareous from the Oja Valley area and iron-clay from the upper Najerilla area.

ELABORATION

Manual harvest. After a light maceration of the skins with the must in the press, it is fermented in wooden vats of different volumes and new French oak barrels from the Nevers district with a very light toasting. Once the alcoholic fermentation is finished, it remains for 4 months in the barrels, making 2 battonagges per week during the first months and once a day in the last month, to keep its fine lees in contact with the wine, protecting it from oxygen and providing softness on the palate and complexity.

This wine has a beautiful straw yellow color. The nose is intense and complex with floral aromas (white flowers, jasmine), stone fruit (peach), citrus (grapefruit, lemon), pear, apple and banana. Very fine and elegant.
The entry on the palate is very smooth and balanced. In the mouth, its minerality and freshness are noticeable, with a very well integrated acidity, which gives it length and a very long finish with hints of vanilla and citrus.

Perfect pairing with grilled fish, shellfish and rice dishes among others. Ideal to taste by the glass, as a starter or with a small appetizer on a terrace.
