La Ciboise (lah see-BWAHZ) is the name of Michel Chapoutier’s grandfather’s home. Located right in the center of the town of Tain l’Hermitage, La Ciboise was the energetic center of Chapoutier family life where children and relatives used to meet regularly. Similarly, these new wines from the M.Chapoutier portfolio are intended to be enjoyed with friends and family to celebrate everyday life.

Luberon is located in the southeastern area of the Rhône Valley; it has a continental climate due to its proximity to the Alps. One of Europe’s oldest wine regions dating back to 750 BC, it received official A.O.C. status in 1988 and is known for producing charming value wines. One of the most sun-drenched regions in France, it is frequently visited and enjoyed by tourists.

Ratings & Reviews

90 Points - James Suckling:
"Wild red and purple berry fruits. A gently grainy, lithe and juicy palate. Springy tannins. Drinking well now." - (14 Aug, 2017)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"Like the other Southern Rhône regional wines from Chapoutier, the 2016 Costieres de Nimes La Ciboise is a blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah. It's a plush, easygoing wine to drink in its first 3-4 years for its dark plum and blueberry fruit and dusting of cracked pepper." - Joe Czerwinski (31st Oct 2017)

Jeb Dunnuck:
"The 2016 Lubéron La Ciboise (mostly Grenache blended with smaller amounts of Syrah) is a delicious, berry, floral and spice-driven beauty that's as upfront and charming as they come. It's a perfect bistro wine to enjoy over the coming couple of years.

The ever-active Michel Chapoutier continues to churn out a huge number of high-quality wines, both from his base in the northern Rhône as well as here in the south. While his top cuvées are always noteworthy, his value releases have soared in quality over the past few years and these are well worth your time and money." (10/19/17)
