Notes from the Winemaker:
Presents an intense red color with hints of bordeaux. Great aromatic intensity. It expresses red ripe fruits and vanilla. In the mouth it´s balanced, with round and sweet tannins, rich and persistent.

Wine Making:
Coming from a sustainable 50-year old plot, grapes are crushed, destemmed and go through pre-fermentative maceration at 11ºC for 24 hours. Alcoholic fermentation in tanks. 4 weeks of maceration with must. At this point we blend the varietals for them to be aged together in French oak barrels for 12 months, Malolactic fermentation in contact with fine lees.

Grape Varietals:
80% Malbec and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon

Ratings & Reviews

90 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"The 2014 Gran Corte is a blend of 80% Malbec and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon from Maipú that fermented separately before being blended and put in barrel to mature for 12 months after malolactic in contact with the lees. It's a classical well-oaked and generous red, with plenty of ripe fruit, smoke and spices and a full-bodied palate with abundant, slightly astringent tannins in the style of the late 1990s. For fans of the style. It was bottled in December 2016. 6,000 bottles produced. - Luis Gutiérrez" - (Issue #237, June 2018)

89 Points - Antonio Galloni's Vinous:
"(14.4% alcohol, vs. 13.9% for the other two 2014 Casir dos Santos wines I tasted): Bright medium ruby. Vibrant scents of blackberry, black plum, licorice, tobacco and violet, complicated by hints of leather and menthol. Broad, plush and rich but not at all overly sweet, conveying a dark-chocolatey depth to its black fruit and spice flavors. Plenty of oak here but in a complementary role. The wine's serious ripe, dusty tannins are in harmony with the fruit on the slightly warm finish. I get a much riper impression of the Malbec here than in the varietal bottling.- Stephen Tanzer" (July 2017), 89 pts

Wine Enthusiast Magazine:
"This is 80% Malbec along with Cabernet Sauvignon. Ripe, malty aromas are almost soupy. The palate is drawing and barrel heavy, while oaky flavors of graphite shadow baked blackberry fruit. On the finish, chocolate flavors are derivative of oak." - (December 1st 2017)
